Step-by-Step Guide: Connecting to Victory API via Postman

Before diving into your code, it's always a good idea to test your API calls. Postman is the industry-standard tool for this. In this guide, we will use it to access the new Standings endpoint.

Step 1: Set Up Your Request

Open Postman and create a new HTTP Request. Set the request method to GET.

Step 2: Enter the Endpoint URL

Paste the following URL into the address bar: https://api.v1.victoryapi.ir/Standings

Step 3: Configuring the Headers (Crucial Step)

You must include your personal API key in the request header to be authorized.

Locate the Headers tab (between Params and Body).

In the Key field, enter: x-vapi-key

In the Value field, paste your unique API Key provided in your dashboard.

Step 4: Configure Parameters

Victory API requires specific parameters to give you the right data. Go to the Params tab and add:

season: 2023 (Required)

leagueId: 290 (To fetch the Persian Gulf Pro League)

Step 5: Analyze the Response

Click Send. Within milliseconds, you will receive a structured JSON response. This includes team ranks, points, goals for/against, and their recent form.

Pro Tip: Code Generation

Once you are happy with the results, click on the "Code" icon on the right sidebar. Postman will automatically generate the snippets for C# (RestSharp), JavaScript, or Python, which you can use directly in your application.

Remember, for enhanced security, never expose your private key (x-vapi-key) in front-end code where it is visible to everyone. Always route requests to our API through your back-end server.
